On the walls of a Mahankali shrine in Troop Bazaar, Secunderabad, Kali is shown trampling Shiva, after beheading Karthaveerya.She has five pairs of arms. Local legend has it that Shiva did not protect Renuka Yellamma from Karthaveerya, who was his devotee.Shivas inaction affronted Kali, and she in turn punishes him after slaying Karthaveerya, by trampling on him.
