Images of women carrying bonam (meal offering) generally adorn the frontal walls of the shrines dedicated to mother goddesses. The bonam is missing in the standing statue here, however, as the woman is depicted greeting visitors to the temple. We tried asking the temple authorities if this was a deliberate omission.
