Daljit Ami hails from a rural agricultural background in Punjab. He studied in Panjab University, Chandigarh. He is an independent film-maker having made several films and documentaries, many of which deal with the social-political landscape of Punjab. He has been regularly publishing in both Punjabi and English newspapers since 1995. His articles focus on Punjab but also link the experiences of Punjab with national and international issues and events. He is currently working as Assistant Editor with the Punjabi Tribune, a newspaper published in Chandigarh.
